Consequences of Honor Code Violations

The type of sanctions to be imposed for breaches of the CDS Honor Code will be directly proportional to the degree of the breach.  It can range from admonishment on the spot by an Officer to expulsion from the Clan.  The OathMaster, in consultation with the Diamond Keshik, reserves the right to impose sanctions as necessary for any violations not explicitly defined below.

Mail Bot Procedure Violations

Rules governing proper use of the CDS public mail bot are outlined in the mail bot area.  Any violations requiring sanctions beyond the default defined in the mail bot procedures will be addressed on an individual basis by the following guidelines:

Excessive and Unnecessary use of Foul Language
Due to the variety of ages and gender of family, friends, and guests viewing our HUD at any given time, anyone using "excessive" foul language will be given one warning to suspend such language.  Any repeat of inappropriate language by the said Warrior will result in temporary suspension from mail bot usage.  Continued violations may result in a demotion by at least one grade.  If the action persists, in obvious defiance, then the said Warrior runs the risk of expulsion from the Clan.

Public Attack on the Honor and Character of a Member of CDS
Any member of CDS who maliciously attacks, in any public forum, the honor or character of another member of the Clan will immediately be suspended from mail bot usage.  The Diamond Keshik will then discuss if further sanctions are warranted.  The Keshik reserves the right to reduce the offender to the rank of Cadet for one month.  At the end of that time the Cadet "warrior in dishonor" may petition the Keshik to be allowed to Trial of Entrance for admission back into the Clan.  If approved by the Keshik, the "warrior in dishonor" will fight against an opponent chosen by the Khan to represent the Clan.  If successful, the "warrior in dishonor" will be allowed back into the clan at the rank of MechWarrior1 and the matter will be as if it had never been.   This Warrior will have to earn any additional ranks through normal Trial of Position.

Deliberate Attack on a Mech not Engaged in Battle

In all Trials where multiple engagements are required to test a Warrior's skill and honor, a Trial Candidate is strongly discouraged from deliberately firing on a mech that is not currently engaged in battle with the Candidate.  It is customary for the Candidate to completely destroy any opponent mechs in the order stated by the Trial rules and to wait for the ready signal of the next opponent before engaging.

During any Trial, if a Candidate fires upon any mech other than the mech currently engaged, an open melee ensues in which all Officer mechs are allowed to simultaneously engage the Candidate(s).  If melee occurs during a Trial of Entrance with multiple Cadets, all Cadets are allowed to engage each other in addition to any Officer mech.

Disregard for the Command Hierarchy

All Warriors are expected to follow the instructions of a commanding officer when engaged in Clan activities.  Failure to do so could cause important information to be miscommunicated or put a battle's outcome in jeopardy.  Depending upon the severity of the disobedience, the Keshik may choose to suspend a Warrior from participating in combat drops or demote a Warrior who disregards the CDS command hierarchy.

Disclosing Confidential Information

Any Warrior who intentionally or unintentionally discloses strategic or tactical information regarding CDS activities that jeopardizes CDS in any way may be subject to disciplinary action.  Sanctions will vary depending on the severity of the breach but may include suspension from combat drops, demotion in rank, or expulsion from the Clan.
