The role of the Clan Diamond Shark roster is to provide more than just contact information. Based on Battletech lore, the roster inherently defines a hierarchy of command. The purpose of this page is to document conventions associated with the roster that are not expressly stated elsewhere in the OathMaster’s area. Diamond Keshik The Diamond Keshik is the Command Star for the entire Clan, and its members are the Khan, saKhan, Galaxy Commander, OathMaster, and LoreMaster. Note that the Keshik mail bot will distribute mail to all members of the Keshik. Battle Groupings The CDS roster follows standard Clan conventions of organization. A group of five MechWarriors, or points, constitutes a star led by a Star Commander. Three stars form a trinary led by a Star Captain. Several trinaries form a cluster led by a Star Colonel. The Galaxy Commander oversees several clusters. The online realization of Clan Diamond Shark currently consists of the Diamond Keshik command star and one trinary of Warriors. The trinary's constituents are listed on the roster in order of rank. The Keshik issues all calls to battle and ensures that scheduling information is posted on the deployments page. Typically, as Warriors are assembling for combat, the Galaxy Commander will select points to participate in a given drop from those present and assign each a chassis and weapon loadout appropriate for their skills and battle-specific tactics. Active members will fill available points first; any remaining vacant points may be assigned to members from the Cadets or Reservists. Once a drop has commenced, the designated drop leader has absolute authority regardless of rank. Active Reserves Should any Warrior find his availability to participate in Clan functions limited for an extended period of time, that Warrior may request to be assigned to the Active Reserves. Doing so relieves one of the responsibilities of his rank and opens up a position in the roster which can be filled by an active member. Reservists maintain the right to participate in practices, battles, and Clan discussions, and they will remain on the CDS mailing list. However, during battle, a drop leader is expected to fill drop points with active Warriors before calling on Reservists to participate. Any active Warrior absent from Clan activities for six weeks without explanation will be automatically transferred to the Active Reserves. Star Officers also have the option to move a MechWarrior to Active Reserves if that Warrior's attendance or performance is unsatisfactory, independent of time periods. Warriors automatically moved to the Active Reserves who do not participate for a further six weeks will be considered inactive and removed from the roster. Warriors voluntarily moving themselves to Active Reserve status will be granted twelve weeks, or more at the Keshik's discretion, to participate again before being considered inactive. Clan Diamond Shark is unique among the Clans in that it frequently calls upon Warriors who have retired to lower castes to rejoin the ranks of the touman in times of need. Reservists or retired Warriors re-enter the Touman through the Minus-One Testing Program. This test is a form of Trial of Position and is described in more detail in that section of the OathMaster’s area. Cadets Those recruits
who are accepted into the Cadet Program will
be listed on the roster. Upon completion of a successful Trial
of Entrance, the new MechWarrior will be placed in an open position
within the trinary. Cadets
are allowed to participate in battle should any open drop points remain
after assignments to active Warriors. |
